Visitor Visa

A visitor visa (also called a temporary resident visa) is an official document that Immigration stick in your passport. It shows that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada. Most travellers need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. You may also need one if you are transiting through Canadian airport on your way to your final destination. You can apply for a visitor visa online or on paper. There are three categories of visitor visa;

• Single entry Visa
• Multiple Visa
• Super Visa
• Single entry visa allows the rightful holder to enter Canada only once and multiple visa is opposite to this which allows you to enter Canada multiple times within a valid period of time. Visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada. At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months. If so, they’ll put the date you need to leave by in your passport.

Requirements to apply visitor visa;

• Have valid travel document
• No criminal record
• The person should be financially sound and show sufficient proofs of employment prospects.
• Have strong ties to country of residence
• Convince immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay.

How long you can stay

• Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada.
• At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months. If so, they’ll put the date you need to leave by in your passport. They might also give you a document, called Visitor extension/visitor record which will show the date you need to leave by.

You must meet some basic requirements to get a visitor visa. You must:

• have a valid travel document like a passport
• be in good health
• have no criminal or immigration-related convictions
• convince an immigration officer that you have ties—such as a job, home, financial assets or family—that will take you back to your home country
• convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit
• have enough money for your stay
• The amount of money you will need depends on how long you will stay and if you will stay in a hotel, or with friends or relatives.
• Some people are not allowed to enter Canada

Some people are not admissible to Canada, which means they are not allowed to enter the country. You can be inadmissible for several reasons, including being involved in:

• criminal activity
• human rights violations
• organized crime
• Minor children travelling to Canada(Make sure you know what to do if your minor children (children under the age of 18) will be travelling with you, with someone else, or alone.)

What Is A Super Visa?

A super visa lets you visit your children or grandchildren for up to 2 years at a time. It’s a multi-entry visa that provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years.
If you want to stay for 6 months or less, apply for a Visitor Visa

Eligibility

To be eligible for a super visa, you must:

• be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
• have a signed Sponsorship letter from your children/grandchildren that includes:
• a promise of financial support for the length of your visit
• the list and number of people in the household of this person
• a copy of this person’s Canadian citizenship or permanent resident document
• have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company that is:
• valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry
• at least $100,000 coverage
• have proof that the medical insurance has been paid (quotes aren’t accepted)

The child or grandchild who invites you must prove that their household meets the minimum necessary income. The following documents are examples of what can be used as proof of funds:

• Notice of Assessment (NOA) or T4/T1 for the most recent tax year
• Employment Insurance stubs
• employment letter including salary and date of hiring
• pay stubs
• bank statements
• Other conditions we consider
